Glamour Sleeper performed by Crash Ensemble in Helsinki

Saturday, February 2, 2019 - 7:00pm

Ireland’s foremost contemporary music ensemble, Crash Ensemble arrives at the ideal time to perform for Musica nova. This highly popular group will play two concerts, which will also feature the CrashLands film project.

At the first concert, held in Rehearsal Hall Paavo at the Helsinki Music Centre, Crash Ensemble will perform, among others, the new work Grey Area by its resident composer Sam Perkin, who is one of the hottest names in contemporary Irish music. Perkin – a skateboarder and contemporary composer – combines, in a surprising way, orchestral music and a nighttime skateboarding video in which the audience is taken on a hypnotic journey through the streets of Dublin and Cork. The concert also features the premiere of work by Finnish-Canadian Matthew Whittall as well as the piece Glamour Sleeper by one of the ensemble’s founding members, Donnacha Dennehy.
