'the little match girl passion' for chorus performed by The Singers-MCA

Saturday, October 6, 2018 - 8:00pm to Sunday, October 7, 2018 - 8:00pm

The Singers begin the season with two striking works – David Lang’s little match girl passion, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Music. This stark setting of Hans Christian Andersen’s lonely tale combines with texts from Picander’s libretto for Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion to highlight the suffering and lonliness of the young child. Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, performed with chamber orchestra, is a soaring reflection on the light in times of darkness.
