'she is called' performed by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus (world premiere)

Tuesday, January 8, 2019 - 7:00pm

The annual FERUS Festival is a showcase of untamed voices. The world’s most innovative artists perform their newest work in music, multimedia, and beyond.

For the fifth night of the 2019 FERUS Festival, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus seeks out the voices of the composers whose work is often marginalized and puts them front and center in their show Amplify.

Featuring works by a wide array of young and contemporary composers, the BYC’s Concert and Men’s Ensembles perform music that speaks directly to the most urgent themes of today, furthering vital conversations within and beyond the arts. The concert includes music by Composer, Co-Founder, and Artistic Director of National Sawdust Paola Prestini, Artist-in-Residence Angélica Negrón, National Sawdust Curator Daniel Bernard Roumain, David Lang, Olga Bell, and many more. Through the voices of those who are seldom heard, Amplify moves us towards a more inclusive and compassionate vision of the future.
